William "Bill" Theiss Jr.

William “Bill” John Theiss, Jr., 90, of Kansas City, MO passed, peacefully, in his home on December 9th, 2024.

He was born September 19,1934 in Lee’s Summit, MO to William John Theiss, Sr. and Rose Helen Kurzweil Theiss. Bill graduated from Grandview High School playing a variety of sports, but especially loved football and basketball.

Bill was a shrewd businessman, an avid fisherman, liked western movies and Gun Smoke, John Wayne being his favorite actor. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs and was thrilled with their recent Super Bowl achievements. Bill always had a ready smile and a good word for everybody.

Bill met the love of his life, Shirley Mae Albin, while she worked as a car hop at Albin’s Drive-In. Bill is remembered as saying that he was “gonna marry that girl”. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married November 8, 1958. 

Bill is survived by 1 brother, Floyd Theiss, 2 children, Sandy Theiss and Mark Theiss (Lori), 2 grandchildren, Jon Theiss (Heather) and Zach Theiss (Kristen), and 1 great-grandchild, Annabelle Theiss. He was preceded in death by Shirley Mae Theiss (Wife), Rose Helen Kurzweil Theiss (Mother), William John Theiss, Sr. (Father), Teresa Theiss Hunt (Sister), and Ralph Theiss (Brother).

Services will be at St. John Regis Catholic Church on Monday, December 16, 2024. Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
