March 13, 1962 — March 26, 2021

Roger was called home Friday morning, March 26, 2021 at KC Hospice and Palliative Care Center.

He was born March 13, 1962 in Kansas City, MO to parents Roger Lee Williams, Sr. and Helen M. Williams.

He grew up here and graduated from BW Shepherd School in May of 1983. During his time at BW Shepherd, he participated in the Special Olympics, and from an early age, he enjoyed bowling in children’s – adult leagues. Roger enjoyed playing basketball and riding bicycles, he always found tools to take his bicycles apart, but couldn’t figure out how to put them back together again. Roger accepted Christ at an early age attending church with his mother until she could no longer drive, then with his sister upon her return to Kansas City. He had a great fondness for music and would turn up his radio and dance around. He would be regularly seen helping Volunteer at the Historic Gem Theater, Negro Baseball Leagues and American Jazz Museums musical functions. Roger loved people and being around them was his joy, he always had a happy greeting for everyone “Hi Sweetie”, “Hey Buddy” waving and always shaking hands. Roger forever had a smile on his face with each greeting.

Roger started working at Southeast Enterprises on June 1, 2002 until June of 2016. He received several awards and accolades for his attendance and work at Southeast. His job was his crowning glory and he would awake early and prepare himself each day. He disliked weekends because he couldn’t go to work.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Helen M. Williams, grandfather and grandmother Oscar J. Gibson, Sr. and Florine C. Gibson, niece Waukesha D. Jones, uncle Oscar J. Gibson, Jr. and a host of others. Roger is survived by his siblings, Donald Mitchell, Helen Ballard, James (Veronda) Williams all in Kansas City, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces.
