Leland Rex Wilson was born July 26, 1942, in Hartville, Wright County, MO, to William and Edna Wilson. Rex passed away at 7:20 AM, May 2, 2022, in Kansas City, MO.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Fran Wilson, of Belton, MO; a son and his wife, Michael and Jennifer Wilson of Elkins, AR; a daughter and her husband, Amie and Carter Morrison, of Pleasant Hill, MO; two grandsons, Colton and Ashton Morrison of Pleasant Hill, MO; and a brother and his wife, Rod and Joann Wilson of Polo, MO. He was proceeded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
He graduated from Hartville High School in 1961. Rex served our country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968-1969 reaching the rank of Sargent. Once he returned home, he began a 40+ year career at Owens-Corning Fiberglass, retiring as a Forming Group Leader.
Rex was a long-time member of Blue Ridge Baptist Temple of Kansas City, MO, where he served as a bus captain and deacon for many years. He enjoyed many pass times and hobbies including golfing, fishing, quail hunting, hot rods and racing, and watching old Westerns. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time in God’s Creation: listening to the wind and bird calls, waiting for the deer and turkey to visit the back window, and seeing the changing of the seasons.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM, Manna Fellowship, 17617 S State Route 291, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM. A graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery at 12:30.
