Marjorie L. Wyrick

Marjorie “Marge” Lou (Welch) Wyrick, of Kansas City, Missouri (formerly of Gladstone, MO, Rogers, AR, Joplin, MO, Independence, MO, Blue Springs, MO, Nevada, MO and Aurora, MO), died Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Wexford Place Assisted Living Memory Care in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Aurora, MO, the youngest of three daughters of Harry and Juanita Fern Carter Welch. While in grade school, her family moved to Nevada, MO where she graduated from high school in 1953.

Marge began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in February of 1954, in Nevada, MO. In April of 1956 she transferred to Houston, TX with ATT until moving to Joplin, MO to attend the Joplin Business College. While in Joplin she met her future husband Glen Wyrick. They were married on September 16, 1960. They were married for 43 years until Glen’s death on April 18, 2004. Glen was also employed with ATT at the time of their marriage, and they eventually moved to Kansas City until 1968, when they were transferred to Cincinnati, OH for a short time, eventually transferring back to Kansas City, MO.

Marge continued her career with Southwestern Bell until she retired in the late 1980s. The Wyricks had a second home on Glen’s birthplace in Oklahoma where they spent time boating on Grand Lake. They loved to travel and enjoyed many trips throughout their marriage. They moved back to Gladstone, Missouri in January of 1995.

Marge had a beautiful voice and sang in her church choir. She was a talented portrait artist. Her favorite subjects were family and pets.   Following Glen’s death in 2004, Marge built a new home and moved to Rogers, AR in 2006 to be closer to family and lived in Rogers, AR until October of 2016 when she moved back to Gladstone, Missouri.

Marge was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was a giving, caring and much-loved wife, daughter, sister and aunt. In addition to her husband Glen, Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Fern Welch, her sisters, Joan Welch Bain Kerr, and Doris Lechner and one niece, JoEllen Bain Patton. She is survived by three nieces, Janet Bain Post of Andover, KS, Peggy Lechner Shaw of Lakewood, CO, Kathy Lechner Miller of Minneapolis, MN, and three nephews, Larry Bain of Bartlesville, OK, John Bain of Tulsa, OK and Michael Lechner of St. Augustine, FL. Marge many great nephews and great nieces.

Private burial in Seneca Cemetery, Seneca, MO under the direction of Park Lawn Funeral Homes in Kansas City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wexford Place Assisted Living, 6460 S. Cosby Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, 64138.
