Melida E. Yanes, age 101, resident of South Kansas City, MO, passed away on early morning at home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, on Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 6, at the Park Lawn Chapel, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO; burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to Coronavirus crisis, the family will not receive friends, but a service at a later date will be scheduled, for the whole family and friends to celebrate the life of Melida.
Melida or Meya as her family referred affectionately too, was born August 21, 1918, in Honduras, Central America where she lived most of her life, before moving to Kansas City 36 years ago. She was a catholic. Meya was a housewife and loving mother and grandmother. Meya enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. Meya always had a pot of something cooking on the stove ready for any family or friends who might drop by. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Maximino Yanes and her oldest daughter, Graciela Yanes. Survivors include her four sons, Cesar Yanes, Jose Yanes, Oscar Yanes, all of Kansas City, Luis Yanes, Oklahoma City, six daughters, Lolia Yanes Lozano, Kansas City, Cristina Hentzen, Guatemala, C.A., Maria Broyles, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Blanca Yanes, Gloria Yanes and Elizabeth Yanes, all of Kansas City; nineteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
