Theresa Barbier Yendrek

Theresa Barbier Yendrek died peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by her loved ones on September 27, 2018. She was born March 15, 1927 in Gendron-Calles, Belgium. As a teenager, she joined the Belgium Resistance, the Underground, during WWII. She was a very courageous, strong and heroic young woman!

Theresa came to the US in 1947 where she attended junior college in North Carolina. In 1949 she transferred to William Jewell College where she not only graduated from but fell in love with Gus M. Yendrek Jr. They were married in 1951 and celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.

Theresa wanted everyone to know that she lived a very, very happy and abundant life! We will miss you dearly Mom.

Survivors include her children, Mark, Anne and John; son-in-law, John Schadler; daughter-in-law, Sally Yendrek; grandchildren, Alex Yendrek and Dominique Yendrek; and great grandson, Adam Yendrek.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am, on Saturday, October 6, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, where Theresa was a parishioner for over 50 years. Burial will follow in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.
